Danbury Local Schools: Forward Progress in Campus Revitalization

March 25, 2024. Construction work is progressing well at Danbury Local Schools! As the Construction Manager at Risk, Mosser is responsible for working alongside the design team and owner to maximize the scope and hit project objectives. The current scope includes a free-standing wellness center/field house, the addition of a new gymnasium, and extensive renovations within the PK-12 facility.

During the planning phase, Mosser aided in determining the best sequencing of the project to maximize dollars and ensure schedule objectives could be met. Masonry often drives school projects and is a key factor in controlling cost and schedule, especially during the tight labor market we have today. The elementary gym includes over 31ft masonry walls and was constructed first to prepare for the Phase II renovations. This project is another great example of the seasoned work of Mosser’s masonry crews. Phase II includes extensive renovations to the existing PK-12 school to create a larger cafeteria, new multi-media room /library, technology room, updated theater, and music and art rooms.

Mosser’s team procured a Butler pre-engineered metal building for the wellness center with exterior decorative masonry walls. The construction team worked alongside the engineers to eliminate columns for more efficient space and features interior masonry walls for the locker rooms and weightroom to provide additional durability and enhanced acoustics. The state-of-the-art athletic space can accommodate practices for a variety of sports including volleyball, baseball, softball and basketball for middle school, freshmen, and JV teams. The facility will also host middle school games.

The project is currently on track for completion in August of 2025!
