Congratulations to one of our recent co-ops, Madilyn Slingwine, for receiving the OCA Hall of Fame Scholarship!
The first-time OCA Hall of Fame Scholarship recipient, who has also earned an OCA Toledo Chapter Scholarship in 2021, had a healthy amount of construction experience when she joined the construction management program at Bowling Green State University.
“Growing up in a family excavating business gave me opportunities to work in the field and learn to run equipment at a young age,” said the Republic, Ohio, native who is set to graduate in 2022. “Although the family business works mostly for surrounding families and farmers, I still got a taste of the civil construction industry. Working on new constructions such as homes or shops to install sewer and water systems, as well as fixing or updating older systems allowed me to produce a good foundation for my construction knowledge.”
"Construction has always been something I have been drawn to. Civil work is intriguing to me because of the systematics that makes up the fresh and wastewater systems of towns.”

Slingwine has added to her working and learning experiences by having a co-op with Mosser Construction Inc. last summer and is currently interning with Marathon Petroleum this summer.
"I am proud to be an OCA Hall of Fame Scholarship recipient"
“After graduation, I would like to obtain a full-time position with a growing and innovative company, preferably in their civil department…,” said the Clyde High School alumna, adding, “To be supported by an organization that provides leadership to the heavy-highway industry is reassuring to me as I begin my career in this field.”
