Mosser Project Managers Teach Students About Construction

at Bowling Green State University Women in STEM Event

On Thursday, April 22, Mosser Project Managers Mary-Margaret Boda and Lindsey Tackett volunteered as presenters in the annual Bowling Green State University Women in STEM event. The 37th annual event was a “virtual field trip” comprised of 6-8th grade female students celebrating Earth Day.

The goals for the Women in STEM events are to:

  • Offer a highly engaging and interactive experience for students
  • Expand students’ awareness of potential STEM career paths
  • Elevate excitement and confidence in female students for pursuing STEM courses/careers

The presentation was hosted by keynote speaker and local Ohio author, Mary Kay Carsen. Mary Kay has a specific interest in highlighting STEM topics and careers and is a nonfiction children’s book author who has written more than fifty books for children about wildlife, space, weather, nature, and other science and history topics.

Mary-Margaret and Lindsey joined over thirty other presenters and volunteers in educating the young women through various hands-on demonstrations, crafts, and experiences. Sessions included climate change, zoology, chemistry and engineering! Mosser’s session was entitled Building A Strong Foundation and provided individual material kits for students to construct a faux concrete wall at home.
