Ohio Turnpike Commission New Mainline Toll Plaza MP 49

Swanton, Ohio

The Ohio Turnpike Commission (OTC) is transitioning to a new tolling system, and Mosser has been awarded the first of two projects for new mainline toll plazas. This toll plaza, located on the Ohio Turnpike, is the first to feature highway-speed E-ZPass lanes. The project included a 6,000-square-foot toll plaza facility, complete with a pedestrian bridge that connects two buildings on either side.

Making this project remarkable was Mosser’s ability to install the pedestrian bridge in the middle of the night, while traffic was slowed for the welding process. The project was carefully coordinated, with a synchronized team of welders securing the bridge in place to thesecond. Along with the pedestrian bridge, Mosser completed all site improvements, including underground utilities, concrete pavement, toll booths, and canopies. This project provided the Ohio Turnpike Commission with valuable insight into the new system, allowing time for troubleshooting and preparation for future plazas.

Mosser successfully navigated complex challenges in collaboration with the owner, delivering the project on time and under budget. This was achieved through Mosser’s efficient use of smaller crews, ultimately reducing overall costs.
