5th Annual OCA Contractor For a Day

Madi Slingwine and Aaron Brady represented Mosser Construction at the 5th Annual Contractor for a Day event, hosted by the Ohio Contractors Association.
They hosted the career fair portion of the program, connecting with students from area high schools and vocational programs and sharing insights into careers in heavy highway construction. The turnout was outstanding, and the level of engagement from the students was even better—lots of great questions and meaningful conversations throughout the day.
Students had the opportunity to visit an active job site along State Route 795 to observe a bridge overlay in progress and gain firsthand exposure to the work performed by various heavy highway trades. In addition to the field experience, they were able to interact directly with industry professionals, including representatives from the operators, cement masons, laborers, and carpenters, as well as several contractors from across the region.

Madi:
“It was great to see so many high schoolers excited about construction. Getting exposure to a worksite is a great opportunity as well as the job fair position. Lots of interaction and interest throughout the day!”

Aaron:
“I feel that the OCA does a great job bringing contractors, local trade schools, and students together to gain knowledge about the trades and all that they have to offer. Getting students engaged with the construction industry at a young age helps ensure that the future of the trades will continue to be strong.”
Now in its fifth year, this event continues to be a valuable platform for introducing juniors and seniors to the wide range of opportunities available in our industry. Creating these early connections and providing real-world exposure is critical to building the next generation of skilled professionals.
